WNBA Star Maya Moore is Sitting Out the Upcoming Season to Focus on Ministry

One of the best players in the game is sitting out the 2019 WNBA season. Minnesota Linx star Maya Moore said she’s going to sit out the year to focus on ministry.

“My focus in 2019 will not be on professional basketball, but will instead be on the people in my family, as well as on investing my time in some ministry dreams that have been stirring in my heart for many years. “

This is a big move for someone in the prime of her career as a professional basketball player. Maya was drafted in 2011 by the Linx, who have won 4 WNBA Championships since she arrived. She has also been selected to 4 All Star teams which she has won MVP in 3 times. In 2014 she was named the MVP of the entire league.

So what type of ministry is she focusing on? Would you be willing to sacrifice a year or more in your career to focus on family and God?

You can read her entire letter in the Players Tribune.
